Savvy Shopping For Spring

Today's consumers are savvy fashion shoppers. We all love buying new clothes but these days, we tend to think more carefully about what we spend our hard-earned cash on.  It’s all about choosing your buys carefully and investing in key pieces which will last for seasons to come. A wardrobe should ideally be based around just 35 key pieces which you can mix and match.

Fabrics are also important, try and buy a range of fabrics which can adapt to our unpredictable weather and carry you through from season to season.

With the high street being super competitive and offering such a vast range and choice, one thing you can guarantee is that we are in for some super buys this Spring/Summer season! So, if you need a bit of a steer on shopping wisely then consider the following: research what you need, what suits you and what is going to last.

Print and Colour

You will find plenty of colour as the new season ranges make an appearance this Spring. Colour is everywhere and the brighter the better. Make sure you buy wisely by choosing your best colours and simple styles that suit you and your purchases will last you well in to the next few seasons.  Neutral colours are always a good bet in colours such as beige, charcoal grey and chocolate. Navy is making a major comeback and can be found in all stores now. This fabulous colour is a refreshing change to black and can look so stylish when teamed with emerald or red .

Stripes are everywhere on the high street and make an appearance every season in some new way, so this print is a safe investment, spots are another favourite and can be bold or subtle and again have been prominent especially due to the vintage trend which is so strong this season. Monochrome is also very popular and this year the way to wear it is with a third colour to make a real statement.

A Good Jacket

Choose a jacket that you can wear both over a dress or with jeans. Go for a mid-weight fabric as this will be perfect for those 'not quite coat' days. You can layer it with a scarf or knitwear in cooler weather. Ideally, you want it in one of your best neutral colours so you can wear it with the other colours in your palette.

A Dress

The dress has made a huge comeback in recent years and although fashion designers tell us it's not currently as popular, they are still in abundance on the high street because women find them so versatile. There is a dress out there for every woman, it’s all about the cut and ensuring it works for your body shape. If you have a waist make sure it emphasizes your curves with a belt or shaping. If you haven’t got a waist don’t worry , shift dresses and tunics are made for you and to complete the look accessorise or add a glam pair of shoes and you won’t go far wrong !

You can glam up a dress or play it down and if you get the right colour, shape, cut and fabric for you, you're onto a winner!

 Handbag

Bags continue to be an essential accessory this Spring and are there to be admired. Choose a bag which will complete an outfit and give it the wow factor, whether it be the colour, the size or the shape, have fun with bags and be adventurous.

So, before you hit the shops, make sure you have done your research: know the colours, shapes and cuts you need for the key pieces that will make your wardrobe work for you in the months to come.

 Happy Shopping x
