Get ready for sports luxe

If you can’t be bothered hitting the gym this February – and let’s face it, who can? – don’t worry. All you need to do is look out for the next amazing trend hitting stores for spring to look sportingly on trend.

Sports luxe doesn’t mean whipping out your tracksuit and a dirty old pair of trainers, this is sporty style with a sexy twist.

A huge influence of this trend has of course been the Olympics, which is a major focus for all industries this year, including fashion.

However, heavily credited designers incorporated very sport-inspired looks into their S/S12 collections, and this naturally has filtered down into the high-street.

Victoria Beckham’s trademark super sexy body contouring bandage dresses featured block colouring, thick straps, D-rings and racer backs.

Her outerwear was boxy in shape with rolled sleeves, hoods and strong zips, crafted from heavy silk fabric. She also featured her first ever flat sandal – times are clearly changing.

Sports luxe on the high street comes in many options, from panelled tops and leggings to silky jumpsuits. It’s perfect for spring as you’ll think you’ve actually been to the gym – it’s cheating perfection!

Team with bling hi-tops in the day and chunky heels in the evening for a great day to night outfit.

Boyish figures should go for a jumpsuit with waist detail to create curves but still show off long legs. Pear-shaped girls should try wearing some cool leggings with a baggy top to balance out the silhouette. Glam up with a statement necklace, cool clutch and heels.

Sports luxe footwear:

They were one of the biggest footwear trends of the ’90s and high heel trainers came back into fashion with a bang last year. Made famous by the Spice Girls, you either love them or hate them, but either way it looks like platform, wedge and high heel trainers are set to stay.

Bringing the look into the 21st century, the latest high heel trainers have encompassed new designs including metallics and more quirky looks.

Whether you go for wedge, high heel or platform trainers, they all have the glamour of a high heel and the comfort of a trainer, hence offering the best of both worlds.

Here are the different styles with styling advice on how you can wear them:

Wedge trainers

A wedge heel is one of the most comfortable, so what heel could be easier to wear than a wedge trainer? From towering wedge heels to flatter ones, it’s up to you how high you like your wedge and you’ll find a big choice of different sizes too. Wedge trainers look great with pretty much anything, especially skinny jeans or leggings

High heel trainers

Typically also with a platform for extra height and comfort, high heel trainers look fab with a floral dress to pull off the latest retro look. Usually black, white or grey, high heel trainers are so versatile and are perfect for dressing up or down.

So let the high street be your ‘trend-mill’ this spring and flex your muscles carrying shopping bags rather than weights – it’s much more fun!
