Clements Ribeiro for Evans - first ever designer plus size collaboration
DESIGN duo Clements Ribeiro has teamed up with plus-size brand Evans for a collection featuring their prints and designs specifically created for curvy women.
As always, whenever there’s a high street and designer collaboration, we can’t help but be excited. Marni for H&M was our most recent obsession, which has now been taken over by the very fabulous Clements Ribeiro for Evans.
In the first ever collaboration between a plus-size brand and high-end designers, the Clements Ribeiro Swan range for Evans offers figure-fitting pieces that incorporate their signature floral prints, textured broderie anglaise and silk fabrics and a set of really fun and vibrant colours.
I’ve had a look at the collection and have to say, I have BOTH thumbs up! There is a mix of oh-so-cute dresses fit for a night out, some separates including a heart print cardi, and a favourite of mine – the bird print jacket.
The collection is a great mix of clothes with a very vintage feeling, classic items – the kind of pieces that will last you a lifetime, season after season.
I also felt it worked really well at trying to bridge the gap in target audience for Evans. Whether you’re looking for young quirky fun pieces or smart, sophisticated dressing, this range fills this margin well with its use of cuts and prints.
Clements Ribeiro is the partnership of husband and wife Inacio Ribeiro and Suzanne Clements. The couple met and graduated at Central Saint Martin’s design school and are now renowned around the world for their work which is routed in elegant shapes, bold colours and vintage inspired prints.
Here’s a bit about the collection from Inacio himself: “Suzanne and I are very happy to be creating a line for Evans.
“Fashion is waking up to diversity and acknowledging the different needs of women of all shapes, colours and sizes. It’s a very exciting opportunity for us to use our design skills in order to create beautiful clothes for a market that has been largely neglected by the higher end of the industry.
“We are creating fantastic prints, great shapes and great knitwear, of course.
“For our first range we addressed the different body shapes, with styles which are accessible but modern, with an emphasis on print and femininity.”
After researching the plus-size market and what it has to offer, Ribeiro added: “It was our starting point, understanding different proportions and different needs behind a desire for fashion that is not different from the high fashion consumer.
“Far from being apologetic or patronising, we celebrated curves and voluptuousness.”
Called the Swan collection, the range is available in sizes 14-32. Prices start at £25 and the clothes are available online at www.evans.co.uk now.
So you see girls, there are now even more amazing clothes for the plus-size girl after all!
